Watched Speciesism: The Movie at three in the morning.  Does its fair share of proselytizing, but I suppose that's the purpose of the film?  Properly questions the assumption that humans are superior to animals, and compares our species-ism to the other "isms" that have blighted our past: racism, sexism, etc. and the horrific results of our desire to make animals service our perceived needs (food/clothing/entertainment/research).

On another note, I loved this book.  A good memoir and a solid case against factory farming.
Re-watching the third presidential debate.  Dear Candy's parents: thank you for giving your daughter a name that basically guaranteed she'd have to become a no-nonsense hard ass.

Apparently 31 requires some eye cream...... I'm not afraid of aging.  The things about me I most take pride in will only get better in time (for a while at least, I hope).  HOWEVER.  I DON'T want wrinkles under my eyes.  I'll take wrinkles everywhere else (I say this now.....) That is the one thing I'm going to actively try to this possible?  Hopefully genetics will prevail, my sister is 36 and gets carded when she buys beer at the market, and at the age of 66, I can count on one hand how many wrinkles my mother has..  Eye cream suggestions??  Facial exercises??  Anything??  Please. UGH.

I've seen plenty of Obama debates.   That was definitely his best.

I can say from experience.....

Yum.  A thousand times, yum yum yum.  Heidi Swanson is my favorite cook, so I am biased, no doubt.

And Dynise Balcavage wrote one of my favorite cookbooks:

For you, Uwe....  Good place to get started, and a slew of fantastic recipes.

Always a lot of fun at the Hutcherson-Parlan household

Good discussion about, among other things, why most people in the arts (and of course the sciences) are liberal, and why it might actually be useful to maintain a tension between the two political extremes.

I agree:  I think Obama was taken aback by all the unabashed, blatant lying, and was at a loss at how to handle it.  From claiming to not have a five trillion dollar tax cut, to claiming there are 23 million people out of work (try 12-13 mllion), to my absolute favorite:  "pre-existing conditions will be covered by my health care plan"......  These are simply not true.  Romney lied his a** off. Excruciating to watch Obama not calling him out on this.....

What's going to happen if I hear or read the words "fiscal cliff" any more times today?  Will I get physically ill?  I think so......
